Bangkok to Pattaya by Bus (Detailed Guide)

Going from Bangkok city centre to Pattaya is very easy; in this detailed guide I have taken pictures of everything and what you should expect. This guide is written on Dec 2018.

The exact location of the bus stop in Bangkok is https://goo.gl/maps/ptrX6u3YLYy

So to get there, the easiest way is to take the Sky Train which is the above ground train system that goes around the centre of the city. The Sky train is called BTS.

(1) Take the sky train to Ekkamai Station or Ekkamai BTS Station. The Bangkok Bus Terminal is South West of the BTS station.

Points to note; I went in the afternoon and traffic was not good it took about 2.5 hours to get to Pattaya. Early morning or late in the evening are generally better. The bus does not take you into the centre of Pattaya City unfortunately and the guys will charge you 60Baht per head to go directly to a hotel in the city centre if the location you want to go to is further from the centre then they may charge 100Baht. I paid 100Baht for them to take me directly to the hotel. For those who don’t know Pattaya – the taxis run a cartel and they do not use the meter so you have to haggle with them on pricing whereever you go; rarely will go anywhere for less than 100Baht; it’s a real scam the taxis in Pattaya. In addition Uber doesn’t work I think and the equivalent of Uber is called Grab.
