The school was established in 2003 in response to demand from the local international community, at a time when no other school in Beijing was offering British education. The school is governed by a Board of Directors that delegates powers for the day to day running of the school on the Head Teacher. The BSB Advisory Board, an independent board comprising business and community leaders from the local and expatriate communities, oversee the school’s strategic development and the fulfillment of its mission. The British School of Beijing is inspected by ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate), is a founder member of EAABIS (East Asian Association of British International Schools), an affiliate member of COBIS (Council of British International Schools) and a member of the British Schools Group and of King’s Group. The school is registered at the Qualification and Curriculum Authority in the UK and is fully licensed by the Chinese Ministry of Education.
