Hair-loss causing shampoos | What to avoid?

Although genetic pre-disposition is a major factor determining whether you will be bald or not; environmental factors also play a pivotal role and can accelerate or slow the onset of baldness.

Unfortunately baldness is a dominant gene which means that even if you are heterozygous then you will become bald. Heterozygous meaning that one of the chromosomes contain the baldness gene. In fact, it is not just one gene that controls baldness but several.

Your choice of shampoo plays a pivotal role in how fast you will become bald if you are genetically predisposed to baldness.

Here are some shampoos to avoid:-

  • Always avoid 2-in-1 Shampoo with conditioner included
  • Shampoos that are neutral or alkaline in pH – pH 5.5 is good but I found that the Sebamed shampoos to cause hair loss too
  • Shampoos containing SLS or SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulphate)
  • JASON Dandruff Shampoo – This product causes hair loss I reckon

If you have a chance to visit Finland, you will notice that there are very few bald people and when I delved deeper, I found that they use tar shampoo to wash their hair with. Tar in Finnnish is called “Terva” and is also one of the main national exports. So I went online an bought a selection of different Finnish shampoos.

Here is one of them that I used and my scalp and hair are responding well to it; I have quite oily hair and I find a lot of the mainstream shampoos will cause irritation to my scalp but the shampoo has changed my life….
